A microschool is a small, teacher-led learning community that provides personalized instruction, hands-on learning, and meaningful social connections.

We serve Kindergarten through 5th grade students who are registered with the Duval County Home Education Program or receive the Step Up For Students Personalized Education Program (PEP) or Unique Abilities (UA) Scholarship.

Students are expected to attend during our scheduled program hours. While Florida does not require attendance for homeschool students, consistent participation is strongly encouraged to maximize academic growth, social development, and classroom continuity.

Our program meets Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

No. We follow our own academic calendar, which is shared with enrolled families during the tour and interview process.

No. However, we may consider 4-year-old children who demonstrate kindergarten readiness on a case-by-case basis.

No. We teach the Florida BEST Standards using a variety of research-based curricula and instructional resources that are selected to meet each student's individual learning needs.

Every student and family participates in a tour and interview to determine whether Our Homeroom Jax is the right fit to support the student's success and the needs of our learning community.

Yes. We use ongoing assessments to monitor student progress, guide instruction, and meet home education and scholarship requirements when applicable.

No. Families provide their child's lunch and snacks. Parents also participate in a rotating snack and bottled water donation schedule. Students should bring a labeled water bottle each day.

Absolutely! We value parent involvement and offer a variety of volunteer opportunities. Some volunteer roles may require a background check.

No. Families are responsible for transportation to and from the program. We encourage families to coordinate carpools when possible.

Yes! Field trips and enrichment experiences are an important part of our program. Student admission fees are covered by Our Homeroom Jax. Parents who choose to chaperone are responsible for their own admission and parking costs. Transportation is arranged through parent carpools, as staff do not transport students.

We believe strong communication builds strong partnerships. Families receive regular updates through newsletters, monthly progress reports, parent-teacher conferences, meetings, GroupMe, email, phone calls, and in-person conversations.

Our Homeroom Jax combines the flexibility of homeschooling with the structure and community of a small learning environment. Students receive individualized instruction, build meaningful friendships, and develop confidence through engaging, hands-on learning experiences in a supportive setting.

Our enrollment process is simple:Submit an interest form.Schedule a tour and family interview.Receive an enrollment decision.Complete enrollment paperwork and pay applicable fees.Attend orientation before the school year begins.
